Length 1.4-2.5mm for brachypters, 3.0-3.2mm for macropters. A rather plain brown species. Keels of pronotum reach hind margin. First antennal segment as long as thickest part. Frons without pale bar. Abdomen blackish on top. Vertex, pronotum and scutellum yellowish or reddish-brown. Forewings unmarked hyaline yellowish or reddish-brown in brachypters, reaching 2/3 length of abdomen with rounded posterior margin and prominent veins. Macropters have semi-transparent wings with dark veins.

Delphacodes capnodes, and many other small Delphacid planthoppers.

Marshy places, feeds on grasses, often around rushes and sedges.

All year. Mainly September to July.

Local (UK Auchenorrhyncha checklist 2021).  Widespread across Wales and central and eastern England. Fewer records to the north and south.
