A fairly small beetle with a length of 2.6 to 3.5 mm. It is black with a yellow-orange stripe on each elytron. The pronotum and legs are also black.

Various habitats, mainly (but not only) found in wet habitats such as wet woodland and wet meadows.

Usually encountered between April and July – it overwinters under bark.

Host plants Water-cresses, Bitter-cresses, Garden Radish and sometimes Mignonettes. Adults may be seen on the leaves, larvae are leaf-miners.

Fairly widespread in England and Wales but occasional.

Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland.
