A species of non-biting midge, characterised by having a long front metatarsus, and a banded wing pattern. 

These are a difficult group to identify with certainty and even with a specimen to examine the females in particular can defy efforts to reach a firm id. Experts specialising in the group are also few and far between.  The onus is on the recorder to get a specimen examined by someone with recognised expertise before submitting a record.

Any damp well-vegetated habitat.

Spring and summer.

Lack of records makes it very difficult to determine the status of this species.
