Short to medium, densely tufted plant with rather greyish green appearance. Flowers yellow 12 to 30 mm with 6 to 16 in racemes.

Walls, rocky places and other shaded habitat.

May to October.

Perennial which is often cultivated in gardens and frequently escaping into the wild.

Found fairly frequently throughout most of Britain.

Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. The Flora of Leicestershire published in 1988 states that it occurred in 46 of the 617 tetrads.
