It has a hairy fibrillose cap with a bearded edge.  The cap is yellow-brown in colour, with dark marbled gills with white fringed margins that exude droplets stained black with the spores.    The stem is yellow brown with a ring zone that is often blackened by spores; scaly or hariry below the ring.
