Uroleucon hypochoeridis is a large pinkish-grey aphid with pale legs that are darkened towards the apices of the segments. Immatures are grey with a reddish-pink suffusion around the bases of the siphunculi. 

Uroleucon cichorii also occurs (rarely?) on Cat's ear - and you can only separate the two, as adults, by measuring the length of the apical rostral segment relative to the second segment of the hind tarsus.

Mature adults require detailed examination, immatures may be identifiable from good quality images.

Where the host plants are present.

Oviparae and alate males occur from late August to October.

Uroleucon hypochoeridis lives on the stems of Cat's ear (Hypochoeris radicata), Autumn Hawkbit (Leontodon autumnalis) and related species.

True status in Britain is difficult to determine due to problems of identification and lack of records.

Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
