A medium-sized to large coral with multiple branches terminating in pointed tips.  The growth form can be very compact, or looser.  The colour is initially pale yellow, darkening with age to buff or pinkish-brown.  The branches stain reddish if bruised.  It has a faint aniseed smell.

Ramaria is a difficult genus, with many similar species. 

We recommend that a specimen is examined by an expert before submission to NatureSpot; microscopic examination may be needed.  Also photograph in habitat and in detail to show branching stem and tip; note habitat, substrate, associated tree species and any smell. 

Deciduous trees and woody debris, including woodchip.
