Short to medium erect, hairy plant. Branched from the base, stem hairs not spreading Flowers bright blue 2 to 5 mm, the petals not notched. Calyx to 5 mm in fruit, long stalked with straight hairs only.

Myosotis scorpioides.  Myosotis secunda is similar, but rare in VC55 in marshes on acid soils and has lower part of stem with patent hairs

Calyx hairs straight/appressed; style shorter than calyx-tube; calyx teeth form isosceles triangle; smaller flower (up to 5mm).

Wet habitats, marshes, stream and pond margins.

May to September.

Annual or biennial.

Widespread and fairly frequent throughout most of Britain.

Frequent in damper situations in Leicestershire and Rutland. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was found in 251 of the 617 tetrads.
