A distinctive yellowy orange coloured fruit fly with wings that are heavily patterned with dark blotches.

To be found where the larval host plants are located.

Summer and autumn.

Host plants include Mugwort, Tansy, Ragwort, Feverfew and Hemp Agrimony. The larvae mine the leaves and live within them until ready to pupate when they leave the mine.

Widespread in England but not well recorded.

Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
