The posterior segment of the male adult is characterised by a white blister on each side

Usually associated with acid heathland soils but not in alkaline areas .  The larvae like well-drained humus in acid soils.

Main nectar food plants are Cow parsley and Cow Parsnip

Adults recorded mid May to mid September
