Description
A small rove beetle of 3 to 4 mm. It has a black head and tail, but the pronotum and wing cases are orange.

Mainly seen from spring to autumn.
UK Status
Most frequent in central and south eastern Britain.
VC55 Status
Fairly common in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 126 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
