Length 4.5 - 6mm.  A very variable brown species with paler wing veins.  It is usually short-winged and often has dark longitudinal stripes on the abdomen beyond the wing-tips - but this is not always present.   Dissection of male to examine internal genitalia - the aedeagus - will confirm identification.
