The cap is convex or flattened, white or cream, developing rusty spots with age. Gills are crowded, emarginate/free, white. The stem is white, sometimes with rusty spots, and is tough and fibrous.  The smell is described as sweet/spicy.

Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.

Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
