Short semi-prostrate plant. The hairs on the leaf stalks are all short: the leaves are opposite and are deeply and quite narrowly cut - the individual lobes of the leaves often have three smaller lobes . Flowers pale lilac (more pink in some other Crane's-bills) 4 to 6 mm half of the stamens without anthers. Fruits are hairy.

Most common in England south of the Humber, but not in the south-west. Less frequent elsewhere in Britain.

Occasional (possibly overlooked) in Leicestershire and Rutland. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was found in 54 of the 617 tetrads.
