It has more white on the abdomen with dark triangular markings. Legs pale with distinct annulations. Usually away from habitation on tree trunks, gate posts etc.

Very similar to S. scenicus but usually much paler due to more white hairs on the abdomen.

It is most commonly found on the trunks and lower branches of trees, or on fences in wooded areas away from habitation.

Though less common than the familiar Zebra Spider Salticus scenicus, it is widespread across much of Britain.

Fairly common in Leicestershire and Rutland.
