A small beetle (3.75 mm). It’s small size and secretive habits of living under bark or in dead wood make it difficult find.

Usually found under bark or in dead and decaying wood, especially where fungi are present. It is mainly recorded in woodland and other well wooded places. 

Can be encountered in most months of the year.

Widespread in the southern half of Britain, becoming more sporadic and local in the far north.

Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland, but may be under recorded in our area.
