Related to and similar to Grey Willow but often taller, 10 to 15 metres, and often distinguishable by leaves being rusty with hairs beneath.

Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was found in 169 of the 617 tetrads.
