Cap is tawny or yellow-brown, gills are white and crowded, and almost free. Paler when dry.   Stipe is paler at top, tomentose and with white hyphal cords at base of stem. 

There are several similar Gymnopus species

This is hard to identify from a photo, and we recommend that it is verified by an expert before submission to NatureSpot.  Also photograph from top down, in side view and underneath showing gills, note habitat and substrate.

Woodland of all types.

Summer and autumn.

Widespread and quite common in Britain.

Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
