The cap is ochraceous to reddish brown when moist, drying to a paler creamy colour; when young there are fibres of the white veil attached.  The stem has a rooting base and also has white flecks of the veil. Gills adnate, greyish or brownish as they age, with faint reddish edges.

There are several Psathyrella which have red edges to their gills and microscopic examination is needed to separate them

This is a difficult species, and we recommend that it is verified by an expert from a specimen before submission to Naturespot.  Microscopic examination will be needed.  Also photograph from top down, in side view and underneath to show gills and full length of stipe including rooting base; note habitat and substrate.
