Rhododendron Leafhopper - Graphocephala fennahi
Alternative names
Scarlet and Green Leafhopper.
Description
A large (8-10mm) and very distinctive leafhopper associated with Rhododendron. The forewings are green with red streaks and dark apical margins, the head and undersides are mainly yellow and there is a black band between the eyes around the edge of the vertex.

on Rhododendron in woodland, parkland, gardens, etc.
When to see it
adults: July to November
UK Status
Introduced into Europe from the USA in the early 1900s, and now common. (ref. UK Auchenorrhyncha checklist 2021 on British Bugs website)
VC55 Status
Occasional, especially in the City and on naturalised Rhododendron in woodlands in the Charnwood Forest.
