Description
Length 9 mm. The wing cases and the tip of the abdomen are orange-brown, everything else being black.
Identification difficulty
Habitat
Under bark, and in situations associated with rotting wood, or compost.
When to see it
Best from April to September.
UK Status
Widespread in England and Wales, less well recorded elsewhere in Britain.
VC55 Status
Fairly frequent but sometimes local in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 39 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
