This rust causes galls on Moschatel (Adoxa moschatellina) but the host is not significantly distorted or swollen.  The pale yellow spermogonia and aecia are on leaves, stems, petioles and flower-heads.  Uredinia and telia are rarely formed. 

Puccinia adoxae also causes galls on Moschatel, with brown telia, and causes the plant to become swollen and distorted.  Puccinia argentata also causes galls on this host but is rare (ref. Redfern & Shirley 2023) and has not been recorded in VC55.
