Length 4.5 mm.  This species is distinctively coloured and the forewings are mottled orange and red. The 1st antennal segment is red and covered in dark hairs. The wing membrane veins and the sides of the pronotum are also marked with red.

Detailed examination of the specimen is needed to identify the species.

Found on ash, particularly large, heavily fruiting trees.

Adult: July to September.

Seems to be rare, or rarely recorded, in Leicestershire and Rutland.
