Description
This species of non biting midge has very distinctive dark markings on the wings which help to distinguish it.

Around water, especially ponds.
When to see it
Summer.
Life History
The aquatic larvae emerge from ponds etc.
UK Status
Little recorded but thought to be widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.
VC55 Status
Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
