Description
The larva of the sawfly Pristiphora testacea has a quite distinctive yellow and green body and a shiny black head.

Larva and leafmine (when the host plant is identified)
Habitat
Wherever Birch is present.
When to see it
Larva can be seen in late summer and autumn feeding on Birch.
UK Status
Occasional scattered records from around Britain.
VC55 Status
It seems to be infrequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
