Length 3.5-4.5 mm.  Identification of some Eupteryx species can be difficult and requires careful examination of markings on vertex, pronotum and forewings.  Yellow ground colour, sometimes tinted orange, with dark spots or streaks on the forewings.  Often there is a pale hour-glass shape on top, but thes black markings are variable in intensity and extent.  2 large black spots on vertex.  There are large black spots on the pronotum and sometimes a smaller central spot. 

Other Eupteryx, espeally E atropunctata, which is smaller and less well-marked

Common on nettles, also Labiates (mint etc.) , cow parsley, potato and other herbaceous plants.

Adult: May to November.
