This plant has arching stems with pairs of large, dark green, slightly pleated leaves that have waxy-blue undersides. It has pairs of white flowers that hang beneath the leaves like little bells.  Stems are ridged to slightly angled, which distinguishes this from the native species, which is probably rare/over-recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland.

The stems are ridged or angled, sometimes only slightly.  Flowers are larger than P multiflorum (15-22mm x 3-6mm).

Usually as a garden escape and close to habitation.

Flowering May and June.

Perennial.

Widespread in Britain as an escape from cultivation.

Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland as an escape from cultivation. 

In the current checklist (Jeeves, 2011) it is listed as Alien (casual) and rarely recorded.
