In size Platycheirus peltatus is amongst the largest of this sub-genus, and has the typical very shiny brassy looking thorax.

Habitat
Lowland areas and river valleys.
When to see it
April to November peaking in June and August.
UK Status
Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain but possibly declining throughout its range.
VC55 Status
Fairly common in Leicestershire and Rutland but possibly declining.
