The larva of the midge Physemocecis hartigi produces a gall on the leaves of Lime, most commonly on Small-leaved Lime. The galls are small, flat and lens shaped, generally several on a leaf, each with one white larva that leaves the gall by an opening at the underside. 

Please provide photographs of the gall from above and below, and a photograph of the larva if present. Please also state the host species.

The galls may be found where the host, Small-leaved Lime is present.

The galls may be found when the host, Small-leaved Lime is in leaf.

Uni- or bivoltine; pupation in the ground.

True status in Britain is difficult to determine due to lack of records.

Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
