Foliose with an irregular outline and with overlapping brown/grey lobes. Apothecia are rare. Soralia are often present at the margins.

On well-lit trees, particularly in parkland and where the bark is nutrient-rich.

Widespread but uncommon.

Uncommon but believed to be expanding.
