Confirmation of this species requires examination of the genitals of mature specimens.

Occurs in a variety of habitats including moss, detritus in woods, under stones and grasslands. Crocker & Daws (1996) recorded the species in disused quarries, on urban derelict land and in abandoned allotments.

All year. 

Widespread in southern and central Britain. Local, but the species may be frequent where it occurs. 

Local in Leicestershire and Rutland, but the species may be frequent where it occurs.
