Pea Gall Sawfly
Pea Gall Sawfly - Euura viminalis
The sawfly Euura viminalis causes galls to form on Purple Willow (Salix purpurea) and Osier (Salix viminalis). The gall in on the leaf underside, with brownish warts, and is not hairy.
Euura bridgmanii forms similar galls on Sallows (Salix caprea, Salix cinerea and Salix aurita)

Anywhere that the host plants Purple Willow and Osier are found.
There are two broods with adults flying May/June and July/August.
The pea shaped gall is formed on the midrib on the underside of the leaf and often reddens.
Occasional in Britain
Uncommon in Leicestershire and Rutland.
