Wingspan 18 to 24 mm. It can resemble Dark Fruit-tree Tortrix but there are subtle differences. Males in particular have a whitish forehead.

In deciduous woodland.

Adults can be found on the wing from Late June through July.

The larvae feed on the leaves of a range of deciduous trees during May and June.

A species which occurs mainly in England and Wales. In the Butterfly Conservation’s Microlepidoptera Report 2011 this species was classified as common.

Fairly frequent but not common in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = B (scarce resident or restricted distribution or regular migrant).
