Description
A very small greyish beetle being only about 2 mm long, the elytra are deeply ridged.
Identification difficulty
Habitat
Under rotting plants, in manure, on carrion and fungi.
When to see it
All year but especially in spring and summer.
UK Status
Widespread and fairly frequent in England and Wales, less well recorded in Scotland.
VC55 Status
Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 30 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
