Males: 2.0 to 2.3 mm.  Females: 2.4 to 3.2 mm. Prosoma brown, radial stripes and margin darker. Male: with high, rounded hump, anteriorly with bipartite, densely bristled groove (gibbosus-form) or with broad-conical hump (tuberosus-form). Legs yellow-orange. Opisthosoma black-grey.

Confirmation of this species requires examination of the genitalia of mature specimens.

Bogs, marshes, wet meadows and other saturated habitats.

All year with a peak in early summer.
