Wingspan 20-25 mm. A quite small and very variable species, resembling the Tortricidae in general shape and demeanour.

In deciduous woodland and areas with Oak

The adults appear in late autumn, overwintering and appearing again in early spring.

The food plant is Oak

The species is locally scattered throughout much of Britain but commoner in the south. In a recent survey to determine the status of all macro moths in Britain this species was classified as local.

Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = C (very scarce resident or rare migrant)
