Length 2.5 to 4 mm. The adults often have a broad or squat outline and they have long erect hairs covering the pronotum and forewings.
Other Nysius lack the long hairs

We recommend that a specimen is examined and photographed. The diagnostic long erect hairs can be difficult to see in a field photograph.
Bare ground, dry grassland, arable land. The species has a wide host range, including cultivated crops such as wheat, oats, barley and brassicas, plus various grass and clover species. In its native New Zealand it is considered to be a pest species of wheat and mustard crops in hot summers.
All year
Native to New Zealand, but a recent arrival in Britain from Europe. It has spread rapidly in the UK since 2010.
