A reflexed annual corticoid, with a white to pale brown wrinkled fertile surface.   The cap is whitish and hairy.

Jelly-rot (Phlebia tremellosa) is more gelatinous and rubbery, and pinker.

On dead branches or twigs of deciduous wood, rarely coniferous, causing white rot.  

All year round.

Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.

Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
