The genus Netelia can be distinguished from the very similar Ophion species by the present of an areolet in the wing - a tiny, roughly circular cell. Netelia infractor is largely orange and has a black stemmaticum (area between the ocelli) and a rather yellow face.

Unless identified by a recognised expert, a photo is required and the specimen should be examined with a microscope. In the comments box, state the key or ID method used and describe the size and identifying characters.

May to October.

Parasitic on certain moth larvae, favouring Noctuid and Notodontid hosts.

It seems to be widespread in England although it is poorly recorded.

Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
