It is recognised by the dark brown radiating lines on the carapace, a dark-edged brown abdomen with pale mottled sides and annulated legs.

Mainly in summer.

It builds a horizontal web in bushes, etc. 

A common but local species in Britain.

Fairly common in Leicestershire and Rutland.
