Neophilaenus can be separated from Philaenus by the straight costal margin along the basal part of the forewing (i.e the front part of the lower margin when the insect is viewed from the side).

Length 5 to 6mm.  A pale brownish froghopper.  There are two pale areas along the costal margin in the apical (rear) half of the forewing

Neophilaenus exclamationis has also been recorded in VC55

Provide photographs from side and top down, clearly showing pale spots on forewings.
