Quite a low growing plant reaching a maximum of 25 to 30cm, but often less and forming a compact, well branched plant. The flowers are two-lipped, with the upper lip consisting of four lobes and the lower lip two lobes. Nemesia flowers come in all colours: from white, pastel pink and lilac through to bright yellow, orange and red to deep pink and purple.

Grown commercially and used for hanging baskets and as a bedding plant, it sometimes escapes to establish for a while in disturbed or bare places – often close to habitation.

Flowering from spring right through to autumn.

Annual or short lived perennial.

Lack of records of this plant outside of cultivation make it difficult to assess how often it manages to establish away from cultivation.

Rarely recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland.
