A small fungus with a greyish-brown, bluish or greenish-brown campanulate cap; it has a sticky gelatinous pellicle that can be peeled away in patches.  The cap margins may be blue, and the gills may be bluish near the margin.  The stipe is bluish at the base, with fine white pubescence.   

The bluish coloration is distinctive, but specimens without this will need close examination to separate from other Mycena. 

Some specimens lacking the blue coloration can be difficult to identify with certainty unless microscopically examined from a specimen.  Expert verification prior to submssion to NatureSpot is recommended.  Also photograph from top down, in side view and from underneath to show gills and full length of stipe.  Note habitat and substrate, and texture of cap.
