Description
A very small dark maroon-brown rove beetle with a short rather stubby appearance.
Habitat
Associated with most decomposing material, including straw, leaves and fungi. It has also been associated with dung.
When to see it
All year but mostly late spring to autumn.
UK Status
Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.
VC55 Status
Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 19 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
