This species occupies a range of woodland and scrubland habitats.

When to see it

The nocturnal adults are on the wing during June.

Life History

The larvae feed on Blackthorn during autumn and pupate in a silken cocoon amongst leaf-litter. The winter is spent as a pupa.

UK Status

Distributed in the southern part of England. In the Butterfly Conservation's Microlepidoptera Report 2011 this species was classified as local.

VC55 Status

Infrequent in Leicestershire and Rutland
