Primarily a migrant species.

Typically arriving in late summer or early autumn.

The larval foodplants are Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) and Field Wormwood (A. campestris).

Although suspected as a resident in the Breckland district of East Anglia, this is now primarily known as a migrant species. In recent years, the frequency and number of arrivals has increased, and records have occurred northwards to Shetland. In the Butterfly Conservation's Microlepidoptera Report 2011 this species was classified as a migrant.

Rare in Leicestershire and Rutland, but four records from our area in early September 2022 suggest numbers may be increasing in VC55.
