Description
Length 8 to 11 mm. This species has a slightly two tone brown wing, the darker marking can be quite pronounced on some individuals.

Habitat
Bare bottomed pools, ditches and reservoirs. It can also be attracted to light.
When to see it
May to October.
Life History
Larva produces a case made of sand grains.
UK Status
Quite common and widespread in Britain.
VC55 Status
Occasional but possibly under recorded in VC55.
