Description
This is a fairly small dark brown to blackish rove beetle with orangey coloured legs.
Identification difficulty
Habitat
Often found in damp areas, in reed litter and flood refuse but also found under logs and stones.
When to see it
All year round.
UK Status
Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.
VC55 Status
Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 162 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
