Short, rather slender plant. The leaves are usually untoothed and mostly unstalked. Flowers are pinkish, 6 to 10 mm long with a more or less straight corolla tube.

Found only in quite damp habitats.

Flowers July to October.

Perennial

Found throughout much of Britain but becoming more scarce or absent further north.

Scarce in Leicestershire and Rutland, with several small and potentially vulnerable populations, all in Charnwood Forest area.

In the Flora of Leicestershire (Primavesi and Evans 1988) it was found in 4 of the 617 tetrads, but was not recorded in the Flora of Rutland (Messenger 1971).

It is listed on the current VC55 Rare Plant Register (Hall and Woodward 2022) as Locally Scarce (i.e. present in 4-10 sites)
