Typically in circular colonies, thallus whitish to pale grey, warted and areolate, soralia lacking in this subspecies; apothecia usually abundant, red- to dark brown.

On concrete and calcareous rocks.

All year round.

Widespread and generally common.

Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
